Team Evinrude’s Bryan Thrift takes home third tour victory on Texas’ Sam Rayburn Reservoir

Team Evinrude’s Bryan Thrift had an unforgettable performance this past weekend at the Walmart FLW Tour at Sam Rayburn Reservoir presented by Chevy in Lufkin, Texas. Thrift beat out 175 of the world’s best bass fishing anglers to claim first prize.

Thrift’s four-day total of 20 bass weighing 73 pounds, three ounces earned him the win and a cash prize of $125,000. This is the North Carolina native’s third tour victory and seventh career tournament win.

“I was running 25 miles up Lake Sam Rayburn through mud, timber, grass and shallow water. To make that run four days in a row with anything but an Evinrude E-TEC would have been next to impossible,” Thrift said.

Thrift was in second place coming in to the final of the tournament. But he overtook the competition Sunday with a five-bass limit of 17 pounds; the day’s heaviest.

“The entire Evinrude team is really proud of Bryan’s win this weekend and we wish him continued luck in April at the Walmart FLW Tour presented by Rayovac in Arkansas,” said Chris Berg, director of marketing and strategic planning for Evinrude. “Evinrude will continue to be a partner in Bryan’s success. Our engines are engineered to give anglers like Bryan the power and performance they need to compete from blastoff to weigh in.”

Thrift’s win, and this weekend’s competition, will be nationally televised on the NBC Sports Network on June 7th at 11 a.m.
