Nissan and Evinrude Team Up with Veterans for Wounded Warrior Project

On Veterans Day 2014, Project Titan will introduce the story of two inspiring veterans from the United States Armed Forces. David Guzman and Kevin McMahon are both alumni of the Wounded Warrior Project® and are featured in an adventure-packed short film about their journey in the Alaskan wilderness outfitted by Project Titan. Through the project, Nissan started by asking America to help build a custom truck for these two veterans to use on a special expedition and adventure through Alaska. The following short film documents their expedition and marks the culmination of Project Titan, which is the second crowd-sourced Nissan vehicle.

Rewind back to early 2014 when Guzman and McMahon were selected to begin a memorable journey all the while behind the wheel of the new Nissan Project Titan truck. After months of preparation, the two started the unforgettable journey through the Alaskan wilderness. The two men are challenged to use the new Nissan Titan to accomplish a number of tasks throughout Alaska. They start by deploying the new Nissan Titan off road, to set up camp. Along the way through their “ultimate adventure” they also find ways to give back to other deserving veterans.

First they make a glacier expedition out on Knik glacier for a photo shoot to commemorate 9/11 heros. They meet with other veterans on their trek who share stories of their past and how life has been since they returned home.

An exciting moment in the short film, David and Kevin delivery two 225 HP Evinrude E-TEC engines to veteran Chris Kendrick. Chris is in need of new engines to outfit his boat which he uses to take disabled veterans out fishing. The two veterans find a way to help Chris’s mission while also honoring him as a fellow veteran.

With the Nissan truck, these two Iraqi war veterans and Wounded Warrior Project Alumni really embarked on a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. While also honoring other veterans, they both made their way over mountains and through valleys, braving the muddy, rocky terrain and encountering an occasional wild animal.

We’re ecstatic to have the opportunity to launch this on Veterans Day as a way to thank and honor Kevin and David, who serve as outstanding representatives for all Wounded Warrior Project Alumni.”
