Team Evinrude’s Matt Arey has found his sweet spot on Beaver Lake in Rogers, Arkansas. The North Carolina native had an unforgettable performance this past weekend on the Walmart FLW Tour when a 4 -day, 20 -bass limit topped the scales at 55 -06, earning him top honors and $125,000.

“Beaver Lake is one of my favorite spots to fish,” said Arey, a Team Evinrude angler. “I knew I could go anywhere on the lake , and the Evinrude ® E -TEC ® G2 ™ would get me in and out. I was working six to eight miles upriver each day, and that two -stroke power got me there quick. Once I found a rhythm, everything just fell into place. It was a great weekend, and I had fun battling with some of my fellow Evinrude pros.”

Arey, a 2006 Forrest Wood Cup champion co -angler, attributed his win to the experience he’s continued to earn as a professional angler.

Arey, who won the same tournament in 2014, is one of six Team Evinrude members who placed in the top 10 at this weekend’s event, including last year’s FLW Angler of the Year, Andy Morgan, Cody Meyer and Bryan Thrift in the top five.

“The entire Evinrude team is really proud of Matt’s win this weekend, and we wish him continued luck as he moves onto Lake Eufaula next month,” said Krista Heidgerken, senior communications specialist for Evinrude. “At Evinrude, we love weekends like this when Evinrude anglers make their mark on the tournament. We’re happy to see the unrivaled performance of the Evinrude E -TEC G2 gave Matt the power and performance he needed to compete from blast off to weigh in. Evinrude will continue to be a partner in their success.”

Arey’s win, and this weekend’s competition, will be nationally televised on the NBC Sports Network at 7 p.m. EDT Oct. 12 .
