Evinrude Pro Staff Highlight: Andy Morgan, Angler of the Year 2013
Evinrude Pro Andy Morgan was crowned the 2013 Angler of the Year at this year’s FLW Forrest Wood Cup . Through his years as an Evinrude Pro Staffer and on the FLW Tour, he is considered one of the most successful anglers. Andy’s unwavering determination and consistancy has garnered him much success before and throughout winning his first Tour victory in 2007 at Beaver Lake in Rogers, Arkansas. He also holds the impressive record of the most Top 10 Angler of Year finishes with a total of seven. Here is a closer look into how Andy has done on the Tour and who he is behind the fishing pole.
Andy Morgan previously worked in the electrical supply industry and comes from Dayton, Tennessee. When not fishing Andy likes to spend time with his wife and his daughter. He considers his dad as his angling hero. Although his largest day’s catch came in 2011 on Lake Okeechobee, he still looks back at his 2007 Tour win at Beaver Lake as the highlight of his angling career. If you ask Andy what his favorite bait of choice is he would tell you it’s a standard Jig. Look out for him on Lake Guntersville, you just might catch him fishing there on his favorite body of water!
To be considered Angler of the Year for the FLW Tour, results are taken from the six Walmart FLW Tour events throughout the year. From those results, the top pro-angler and co-angler of the 2013 point standings wins Angler and Co-Angler of the Year. In the event of a tie, the winner with the most weight caught throughout the FLW Tour is crowned Angler of the Year. Angler and Co-Angler of the Year titles are presented by Kellogg’s. Angler of the Year is awarded $100,000 and a berth a the 2014 Forrest Wood Cup. Co-Angler of the Year earns a Ranger Z518 boat with a 200-horsepower outboard engine and a spot on the 2013 FWC as well.
